Dale Akiki Looks Back

At about the time I decided to focus on child abuse defense, I had the good fortune to meet and learn from one of Dale Akiki’s defense attorneys. This reflection on the Akiki case, twenty years after Akiki’s arrest, reminds us of the never-ending risk that suggestive questioning of children and distortion of children’s memories will cause innocent persons to be convicted of child sex abuse. It also shows that a falsely accused person can triumph and get his life back.
